Järvenpää, Finland - SEVENTH MEETING
The last project meeting with students and teachers took place in Koivusaaren koulu, Järvenpää, Finland
from 15 th to 21 st May. 16 teachers and 22 students were visiting from 6 countries.
The title of the meeting was “Future School”. Each partner school had prepared a presentation about the
theme. Students also had a chance to be a teacher for one day. Students from all 7 project countries
conducted a lesson for students – not only for those who are involved in the project but also the students
of the host school. Finnish students conducted a lesson of Finnish language – one for teachers and one for
students. Polish students conducted a lesson of sport and art, Croatian students a lesson of English, Turkish
students a lesson of games and dance, Italian students a lesson of English, Bulgarian students a lesson of
karate and football and Romanian students a lesson of piano, drama and to know each other’s. All of the
lessons were excellent and the students were great teachers!
Our guests also learned something about Finnish culture and habits. We all baked Carelian pasties together
and played Finnish baseball in our school. On Wednesday almost all of the students were brave enough to
go to sauna and swim in a lake. Also the host families were invited – together we were about 80 people
enjoying a beautiful evening by the lake.
One day we spent in our capital city, Helsinki. Students choose one of the three options: Kiasma, National
Museum and Ateneum. Teachers were free to go to the museums or do something else. Most of the
students visited Kiasma, which is a museum of modern art, and they really liked it.
On Friday we visited one primary school, church of Järvenpää and a Lotta Museum and then a high school –
which is a future school that already exists.
